1. Viva

Why?: Foreign language Oscar shortlist for Ireland.  LGBTQ focus.  Father/son drama in Cuba.

Where?: Sundance Cinemas

2. The Meddler


starring: Susan Sarandon, Rose Byrne, J.K. Simmons

dir. Lorene Scafaria

writers: Lorene Scafaria

Why?: Susan Sarandon’s best role in years. Rose Byrne is always amazing.  Early word is great.

Where?: Guild 45th, AMC Pacific Place

3. Money Monster


starring: Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Jack O’Connell

dir. Piero Messina

writers: Giacomo Bendotti, Ilaria Macchia, Andrea Paolo Massara, Piero Messina

Why?: Juliette Binoche in a family drama of certain regard.

Where?: Sundance Cinemas, Regal Northgate, AMC Pacific Place

4. High-Rise


starring: Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller

Why?: Sex and humor with some naked Tom Hiddleston

5. How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town

Why?: The title alone….
